Deputy Svintsov: The probability of WhatsApp* being blocked in Russia is high
The State Duma believes that there is currently a high probability that the popular messenger will be blocked.
A comment on this topic was shared by deputy, deputy chairman of the Duma committee on information policy, information technology and communications Andrey Svintsov.
He stated that the probability of WhatsApp* being blocked in the Russian Federation is high, reports the Parliamentary Newspaper .
The deputy pointed out that this is not being discussed yet, but the messenger administration should comply with Russian legislation.

Svintsov added that Telegram is rapidly gaining popularity in Russia.
According to him, Viber and WhatsApp* are “becoming a thing of the past” against this backdrop.
At the same time, the parliamentarian emphasized that there is no goal to block these messengers.
If they want to continue working on the territory of the Russian Federation, then they should take into account Russian laws.
Svintsov also pointed out that important changes could come as early as January next year, when Donald Trump officially takes office as US President.
