One of the power units of the Rostov NPP was shut down due to increased load on the power system.

The situation was commented on by the press service of the nuclear power plant.

The shutdown of the power unit did not affect the safety situation, representatives of the nuclear power plant assured.

No change in background radiation was recorded; all indicators are within normal limits, TASS reports.

Two power units continue to operate in normal mode. Another one is undergoing scheduled maintenance.

In total, Rostov NPP has 4 power units. The last one was put into operation in 2018.

The power unit was switched off automatically. Everything happened in accordance with the program algorithms, representatives of the NPP reported. The generator protection system was activated.

Situation at Rostov NPP

There was a failure in the operation of generating equipment at the Rostov NPP. An increased load on the energy system was recorded.

In order to maintain the stability of the energy system, a decision was made to introduce temporary schedules for limiting consumption by 1.5 GW in the South of Russia.

Meanwhile, specialists are already sorting out the situation. The progress of the work is under the control of the Ministry of Energy.
