Roskomnadzor sent Wikipedia a request to remove incorrect information about Velikhov

Roskomnadzor discovered false information on a popular resource.

An inaccuracy that distorts the facts was discovered in an article about academician Yevgeny Velikhov.

This was reported by the TASS agency, citing a statement made by the RKN press service.

According to information on his Wikipedia page, the academic died in the Turkish city of Mersin.

However, as Roskomnadzor emphasized, this information does not correspond to reality.

The department emphasized that the physicist died in Moscow. In connection with this, the department sent a request to Wikipedia to remove false information.

Roskomnadzor reminded that the Internet encyclopedia is obliged to strictly comply with Russian legislation, especially when it comes to publications concerning socially significant facts.

It is noted that the resource has previously been held accountable for disseminating fake information. Wikipedia was held administratively liable and ordered to pay fines totaling 41.4 million rubles.
