The situation with electricity in Abkhazia has become known.

The energy shortage has led to kindergartens and schools being closed across the country from Tuesday.

Acting Prime Minister of Abkhazia Valery Bganba reported this information at a meeting of the headquarters on the situation in the energy sector, TASS reports.

According to Bganba, the situation with electricity in the country has significantly worsened. Therefore, from Tuesday, December 10, schools and kindergartens in Abkhazia will stop working.

However, the duration of this measure remains unknown.

Due to the power shortage situation in Abkhazia, they were forced to resort to scheduled power outages.

Residents of the country are left without power for 2 hours and 20 minutes twice during the daytime. At night, from 21:00 to 07:00, the power in the country is not turned off.

According to the Minister of Energy, if Abkhazia does not get the opportunity to pay for electricity from Russia, then it will have to switch to electricity supply from the Ingur Hydroelectric Power Station. And this, in turn, threatens the country with six-hour power outages.
