The court rejected the demand for increased compensation for participants in the scam involving the property of artist Alexei Batalov.

Those convicted of a scam involving the property of the widow and daughter of People's Artist Alexei Batalov have been denied increased compensation.

The Moscow City Court refused to increase compensation for participants in the scam involving the artist’s property, RIA Novosti reports.

The documents show that Mikhail Tsivin and Natalya Drozhzhina provided assistance to Batalov’s widow and daughter.

However, they then used powers of attorney to withdraw more than 20 million rubles of the family’s savings.

A notary public familiar to Tsivina and Drozhzhina prepared lifelong maintenance contracts with dependency. Therefore, the defendants received an apartment, a share in another apartment, and non-residential premises in Moscow.

In May 2023, the court found them guilty. However, the fraudsters claimed that they provided assistance to the family at their own expense.

They requested 4.2 million rubles from Batalov's widow and daughter, although it was obvious that their expense receipts looked "like they came from a trash can."

The court ordered the artist's family to pay Tsivin and Drozhinina about 900 thousand rubles.

The lawyer said that she would appeal the decision in cassation.
