The Duma adopted a law on punishment for participation in undesirable organizations

The lower house of parliament has approved a bill that concerns punishment for participation in undesirable organizations.

The deputies also determined which organizations could be considered undesirable in Russia.

The deputies adopted the relevant amendments in the second and third readings, reports the Parliamentary Newspaper .

Now in Russia, any organization whose founders or participants are government agencies of foreign countries can receive this status.

The new norm applies to all associations that are considered a threat to the foundations of the constitutional order and security of the Russian Federation.

In addition, the deputies determined the punishments that threaten participation in undesirable organizations. Citizens may be subject to administrative or criminal liability.

Participation may result in a fine of up to 500 thousand rubles or imprisonment for up to 4 years. If the participant is the organizer, the prison term increases to 6 years.
