New details have emerged about the environmental disaster that occurred in the Kerch Strait.
Fuel oil spilled in the water reached the Crimean coast in the area of Cape Zmeiny.
Advisor to the Head of the Republic of Crimea Oleg Kryuchkov spoke about this on his Telegram channel, citing information provided by Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Crimea Igor Mikhailichenko.
According to a representative of the Crimean authorities, fuel oil from tankers that sank in the Kerch Strait has reached the coast of Crimea.
Oil products polluted the sea, as well as the coast in the area of the Yenikale fortress.
In order to eliminate the problem, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and other agencies involved in eliminating the consequences of the disaster were sent to the scene.
It is noted that a total of 112 people, 2 ships and 12 units of ground equipment are participating in the work.
To get rid of the fuel oil stains floating in the sea, two vessels, the Maxim Kolosov and the Anatoly Tkachev, were sent.
Let us recall that on December 15, two tankers with fuel oil on board sank in the Kerch Strait. As a result of the disaster, oil products ended up in the water.
