The time has come when colds visit every home with enviable frequency.

And since having a dog means walking it in any weather, pet owners should know whether they are susceptible to the same diseases as people.

Symptoms of a cold

Let's start with the fact that dogs can actually catch a cold just like people, and the symptoms of the disease are similar to those experienced by humans.

The following signs indicate that your dog has caught a cold:

  • discharge from the nose and eyes;
  • dry and hot nose, which ideally should be moist;
  • coughing and sneezing, often so severe that the dog cannot eat;
  • dull coat color and loss of fluffiness;
  • lethargy and fatigue;
  • tremors and fever, especially characteristic of elevated body temperature.

The first thing that is important to remember is that it is absolutely forbidden to give your pet human medications, since their effect can negatively affect the dog’s body.

If the symptoms are pronounced, you should contact a veterinarian who will tell you how to properly treat the animal.
