You are raising a cute and adorable puppy, but one of his habits worries you - he constantly chews your shoes!

This problem is common among puppies, and owners often ask how to wean their pup off of it. Trainers say there are several effective ways to solve this problem.

First, you need to understand why your puppy chews shoes. Often, it is due to stress from loneliness, boredom, or a desire to attract attention.

Puppies also love to chew on everything while they are teething. To relieve stress, give your puppy extra attention, play active games with him before leaving him alone. Also leave him toys to chew on.

Another important point - do not scold the puppy if you catch him chewing shoes. It is better to calmly distract him with a toy or a treat.

Punishments only increase anxiety and stress. Instead, reward your puppy for good behavior.

Also, try not to leave shoes in a place accessible to the puppy. Put all shoes in a closet or on top shelves. If the puppy has no way to get to the shoes, he will not be tempted to chew them.

You can use special products with the taste of bitter wormwood - apply them to your shoes so that it is unpleasant for the puppy to chew them.

Over time, he will learn that shoes are inedible. But do not overdo it with such sprays, so as not to cause the puppy to become disgusted with food in general.

When your puppy starts chewing on your shoes, say "No!" in a firm voice and give him an acceptable chewing toy instead. Praise your puppy when he chews on the toy instead of the shoes. This will teach him that toys are okay to chew on, but shoes are not.

Reward your puppy with treats and play when he exhibits the desired behavior. Positive reinforcement is the best training method.

Be patient, as it takes time for puppies to completely break unwanted behavior.

If the problem persists, contact a dog trainer. The specialist will help identify and eliminate the causes of such behavior in the puppy. It may be necessary to adjust your training methods.
