Most often, chicken carcasses are sold frozen in stores so that they are better preserved.

And since they can be quite large, it is often necessary to quickly defrost the chicken to prepare the desired dish.

And if you don’t have a microwave oven at home, don’t despair: there are several simple ways to do this without a household appliance.

How to Defrost Chicken Without a Microwave

Although defrosting chicken using a microwave is considered the most preferable option when you are limited in time, there is a risk that some of the meat will start to cook during defrosting.

Therefore, the most preferable method is defrosting in the refrigerator. The carcass should be left on the bottom shelf for 5 hours, or better yet, overnight.

However, if time is short, then the chicken is defrosted by pouring water. You need to leave the carcass in the water for a couple of hours, changing the water every half hour.

If you plan to bake chicken, you can defrost it in a salt solution. For 3 liters you will need half a glass or a glass of salt, which will need to be thoroughly mixed in water.

The chicken should be left in this solution for no more than 1 hour.

If you have a multicooker at home, it can easily replace a microwave. Place the carcass in a bag in the bowl, select the "defrost" mode or the minimum temperature mode and defrost for 10 minutes.

An oven can also be used for the same purposes, if it supports a 30° setting.
