The Dangers of Vitamin D Deficiency

Cod liver is a source of the active formula of vitamin D, namely D3. It can be formed in the human body due to the active action of sunlight. But not all inhabitants of the planet can boast of a warm and sunny climate. Therefore, vitamin D3 deficiency is a common problem.

In European countries, 40% of the population suffers from its deficiency, and in Russia, almost 65%. Due to the deficiency of the element, people develop bone diseases, tumors, type 2 diabetes, childhood rickets, cardiovascular diseases and much more. And the problem can be solved by simply consuming the right superfood in the form of cod liver.

Three rules for buying cod liver

It is not so easy to choose the right cod liver from the wide variety of similar products in the store.

Today, manufacturers package even the most useless and low-quality goods as something exclusive and expensive.

Three rules can help you choose the ideal source of vitamin D:

• freezing. The final product is undoubtedly better quality if the raw material is chilled or fresh than if it has been frozen for a long time. The packaging should indicate how exactly the liver was processed before being packed in a jar. If there is no mark about cooling, this means that the vitamin D in the finished product is slightly less than required;

• three ingredients. A can of proper cod liver should contain only three components, namely the fish product itself, salt and possible spices. The latter may not be in the can. It should be in its own secreted fat. Vegetable oil, preservatives, flavor enhancers and other artificial and natural fillers are unacceptable;

• the particle "po", which should be absent. You should avoid liver with names like "po-Sakhalinski", "po-Primorski" and similar ones, as this is not liver, but a pate made from it. The product was mechanically crushed, which means it does not contain the daily norm of vitamin D, which leaked out along with the butter. Moreover, the composition contains vegetable oil, starch, dry milk and other unnecessary, unhealthy components.

Experts' opinion

Based on numerous studies, scientists were able to conclude that one can of cod liver contains up to 8 daily norms of vitamin D3.

At the same time, liver is a concentrated product containing additional useful substances, such as Omega-3. The daily norm of the product contains almost as much of it as specialized dietary supplements. The situation is similar with vitamin A, of which there are almost 6 daily norms in the jar.

The use of the product should be strictly dosed and in some cases permitted only after consultation with a specialist. For example, the above-mentioned vitamin A in case of overdose in pregnant women can cause fetal pathologies.

Superfood cod liver is an incredible benefit and support for the body. It can provide the daily norm of vitamins A and D3, polyunsaturated fatty acids Omega-3, which will have a beneficial effect on the well-being and health of a person. The described rules will help you choose the ideal product without useless additives.
