An expert predicts a sharp increase in the Central Bank's key rate.

Senior analyst of UK Pervaya Natalia Vaschelyuk shared a comment on this topic.

On December 20, the Bank of Russia may raise the key rate to 24–25%, Lenta.ru reports.

The analyst points to persistent high inflationary pressure as the reason.

Vaschelyuk noted that weekly inflation accelerated to 0.5%, which, when converted to an annual rate, corresponds to 27%.

Preliminary data show that prices rose by 1.5% in November.

The expert noted that the Central Bank will raise the key rate in two weeks.

She did not rule out that the Bank of Russia would immediately raise the “key” by 3–4%.

The regulator may decide to take such measures even against the backdrop of a likely slowdown in corporate lending in November.

The Central Bank previously warned that there was a high probability of an increase in the key rate.

The next meeting of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank on this issue will take place on Friday, December 20.
