American gas suppliers have swapped the European market for promising Asia

American gas suppliers have chosen the Asian market because of prices and strong demand.

The choice in favor of Asia was made against the backdrop of US promises to help Europe in the context of its refusal to import energy from Russia.

This trend was noticed by the publication Business Insider . According to journalists, in July 2024, American supplies to the European Union almost equaled Russian ones – 1.5 versus 1.3 million tons.

The US authorities promised the EU to supply at least 15 billion cubic meters of "blue fuel" per year after refusing gas from Russia. At the same time, Washington assured that by 2030 supplies would increase to 170 billion cubic meters.

But the Americans made a reservation. The US will adhere to the agreements if the eurozone provides favorable conditions for cooperation.

Thus, the United States left room for maneuver in case a more promising sales market was found.

And it was found. Asia demonstrates high demand and prices are higher than in Europe. The US did not think long and reoriented itself to the Asian market, analysts note.
