It became known about a precious discovery that was made in Yakutia.
This is the second time this year that a large diamond has been found here.
As RIA Novosti clarifies with reference to information shared by the Alrosa company, we are talking about a nugget weighing 262.5 carats.
It is noted that the discovery was made at the end of summer, but information about it only appeared now.
The place where the precious stone was discovered was the Ebelyakh deposit of the Mayat mine.
This place is known for the fact that large diamonds have been discovered here more than once. For example, on September 10, 2023, a 390.7-carat gem was found here.
The size of the nugget became a record for the last 10 years of Alrosa’s work in this region.
The record-breaking deposit is also famous for the fact that in 2017 the rarest and most expensive stone in the history of Russia was discovered here - a pink diamond weighing 27.85 carats.
The stone was later cut into a diamond, named the "Phantom of the Rose".
