The expert told what Russians should expect in the near future.
Economist Igor Kostikov shared a commentary on the Central Bank’s possible plans.
In an interview with OTR, the expert stated that the Central Bank, apparently, is preparing Russians for an increase in the key rate to 20%.
This is why regulators have been talking about this for several weeks now.
There are prerequisites for this. Inflation remains high and there are no signs yet that the indicator will return to the 4% acceptable for the Central Bank in the foreseeable future.
On July 26, the regulator raised the key rate to 18%.
It later became known that representatives of the Central Bank discussed the possibility of increasing it from 16% to 20%, but during the meeting it was decided to raise it by two points.
The regulator will hold a new meeting on Friday, September 13.
