The large number of couriers is more harmful to the Russian economy than beneficial.
This opinion was expressed by Nikita Kuznetsov, Director of the Department for Development of Domestic Trade of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
He noted that today “millions of people” are becoming couriers and packers, RBC reports.

At the same time, as Kuznetsov pointed out, many of these people are in good physical health.
The representative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade believes that other areas of the economy are in dire need of precisely such people.
Kuznetsov noted that delivery services take up a large amount of labor resources.
He pointed out that in other circumstances the economy could allow this. But now, when a labor shortage is being recorded, such a situation is harmful.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, there are currently 1.5 million couriers and another 500 thousand order pickers in the Russian Federation.
Kuznetsov claims that the delivery services themselves also have their downsides: they discourage people from going to stores and are unprofitable.

A courier is a person who works in an institution and delivers orders.
