The Berry Union told whether Russians should prepare for a shortage of tangerines before the New Year.

The head of the association, Irina Koziy, shared a comment.

In a conversation with NSN , she said that citrus fruits will not disappear from Russian shelves if there are no attempts to limit price increases.

Koziy said that the key supplier in this case is Türkiye. This country imports more than 50% of the annual consumption volume in the Russian Federation.

Fruits from China are arriving on the shelves of Far Eastern and East Siberian stores.

Tangerines are also brought from Pakistan, Egypt, Morocco, and Abkhazia.

The head of the Berry Union emphasized that we are talking about a wide geography of supplies, so Russia will not be threatened by a shortage if there is a crop failure in one country.

The situation can only be affected by an attempt to limit price growth. Then tangerines may indeed become a deficit, the expert concluded.
