The new banknotes were planned to be issued in 2025.

This is due to a revision of the approach to developing banknotes, TASS reports.

The Central Bank noted that the approach to developing banknotes was made more open. In particular, the issue of choosing symbols became controversial.

In addition, representatives of the regulator informed that before the introduction of new banknotes it will be necessary to prepare equipment, including ATMs.

Today, approximately ninety percent of ATMs are ready to accept the updated 100-ruble banknote.

As for the new 5000, only 70% of ATMs can work with this banknote.
