It has become known about the lawsuit that the Russian Prosecutor General's Office filed against the Shell company.
The brand's representatives are expected to pay around one billion euros in damages.
The Moscow Arbitration Court shared this information on its website .

According to preliminary data, the reason for the legal proceedings is the company’s failure to fulfill its obligations under the Sakhalin-2 project.
It is noted that the first hearing of the case is scheduled for December 11. During the proceedings, the Prosecutor General's Office intends to recover a large sum from Shell for the losses incurred.
Let us recall that Sakhalin-2 is one of the most complex projects created from scratch. It involves the extraction of gas and oil in the subarctic conditions of the Russian Far East.
Shell previously had a 27.5% stake in Sakhalin-2, but announced its withdrawal from all Russian projects in 2022, including this one.
In March of this year, a Gazprom subsidiary bought Shell's stake for 94.8 billion rubles, but this amount will be frozen. It is assumed that this money will be the subject of the lawsuit.
