VTB CEO Andrey Kostin commented on rumors about a possible freeze on Russians' deposits.
He rejected possible speculation and expressed hope that the Central Bank would leave the rate at 21 percent.
Moreover, Kostin said that information about a possible freeze on deposits is nonsense, as emphasized in the RIA Novosti article.
He also expressed hope that the Central Bank will not raise the rate in December.
The banker emphasized: “The head of the Central Bank said that they won’t necessarily increase it, so there is still a chance.”
Kostin thus commented on the upcoming meeting of the regulator’s board of directors in December.
The banker explained that the Central Bank is sending tough signals that the rate may change.
Therefore, he did not rule out the possibility of its growth.
