How to Turn Sawdust into Fertilizer

Fresh sawdust causes nitrogen deficiency in the soil. That is why it is important to dilute the mixture with nitrogen fertilizers before adding it to the soil.

Urea or wood ash are excellent additives for this purpose.

Sawdust mixed with fertilizers must be moistened, otherwise it will take a long time for them to decompose.

Sawdust can be added to compost. To do this, you will need a mixture of 10 kilograms of wood shavings, 100 grams of urea and 25 grams of superphosphate, moistened with water.

After 2 months, when the specified mixture has decreased in volume, it can be added to the compost.

Sawdust can also be used as mulch for trees, shrubs and perennials without digging it into the soil to avoid drawing nitrogen out of it.
