Preparing for a new gardening season is a very important event, but even experienced gardeners can make fatal mistakes.
We are, of course, talking about seedlings, which should significantly speed up the growth of the crop, but they need to be prepared very competently.
Our expert, agronomist, landscape designer and botanical artist Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, will tell you what can go wrong with seedlings.

Soil for seedlings
You shouldn't plant seedlings in regular garden soil. It's completely unsuitable for this and even with abundant watering it will eventually turn into a "brick".
Young sprouts require a completely different soft soil with different fertilizers, so be very careful when purchasing soil for seedlings.
Light and warmth
For seeds and seedlings, light and heat are the most important factors for growth. That is why it is necessary to purchase special lamps.
They don't have to be on 24 hours a day, but early in the morning and late at night they will help the plants grow.
Black legs
This is a clear sign that the seedlings have started to rot. This means there is a lack of ventilation or you are watering the seedlings too much.
In this case, watering should be stopped for a certain period of time and it is necessary to improve the ventilation of the soil surface.
Bottom watering
The container in which you grow seedlings must be designed to allow watering of the plants from below.
In this case, the roots of the plants will go downwards in search of water, which is necessary for healthy seedlings.
