How to protect your garden from Colorado beetles with walnuts: a gardening trick

Colorado potato beetles can cause serious damage to crops.

However, some simple but effective means can help in the fight against these insects.

Agronomist Anastasia Kovrizhnykh suggested how to protect a vegetable garden from Colorado beetles using walnuts.

How to prepare the remedy

This remedy is a preventive measure. To prepare it, you need to take any container with a capacity of ten liters.

We put three kilograms of walnut leaves and fruits in it. Then we fill the container with water and let it brew for several weeks.

After this time, the product needs to be filtered. Then it is enough to spray the potatoes with it.

This procedure should be carried out once every two weeks.

This product contains substances that Colorado potato beetles do not like.

Therefore, insects will try to stay as far away as possible from the plants that have been treated with them.

Also, in the fall, some gardeners add walnut leaves to the bed where potatoes will grow and dig them up.

Other methods of struggle

You can also fight the Colorado potato beetle using other effective means.

Ash or onion peel can repel beetles from the plant.

When planting potatoes, you can put some peelings or a handful of wood ash in the hole.
