First of all, remember that apple trees should be pruned at the end of autumn. It is during this period that the tree will be in a state of dormancy.
This procedure should be carried out using garden shears or a knife pre-treated with alcohol. This way the tree will not become infected with pathogenic fungi.
It will be necessary to remove dry, broken and diseased branches, as well as those branches that do not bear fruit but only thicken the crown.
The cut must be made at the very base of the shoot. Do not leave even small stumps, otherwise hollows will appear in these places - a potential home for parasitic insects.
