Trimming

Gooseberry is a bush that grows quickly. Therefore, it needs to be thinned out from time to time.

In spring, it is necessary to trim lateral shoots, as well as broken and diseased branches.

The bush is pruned twice, and after the harvest is removed, another removal of branches from the bush is required.

During the second pruning, you need to cut off those branches that did not bear fruit, and also remove the main shoots, leaving only the 5 strongest ones.

Top dressing

Gooseberries require five types of feeding during the season:

  • as soon as the first leaves appear, pour two ten-liter buckets of water under each bush with the addition of 1 tablespoon of urea and 2 tablespoons of nitrophoska;
  • during the flowering period - 3 buckets of the same volume with the addition of 1 tablespoon of potassium sulfate;
  • when the ovaries begin to form, the gooseberry will require 3 ten-liter buckets for each bush, 1 tablespoon of nitrophoska and 2 tablespoons of potassium humate should be added to the water;
  • in September, pour 1 tablespoon of double superphosphate and 4 tablespoons of potassium sulfate under each bush, watering generously;
  • In October, we pour rotted manure under each bush.
