Neighbors are crying with envy! How to grow a giant pumpkin in a regular garden bed

Have you ever seen a pumpkin the size of a small car?

No, this is not science fiction - such giants can really be grown in an ordinary garden, and you don’t need magic fertilizers or secret laboratories for this.

It all starts with a dream and a packet of seeds. One spring, I decided to challenge myself: I planted a pumpkin and promised my neighbors that by autumn they would see something incredible.

They laughed, but when the giant orange ball outgrew the fence, the laughter turned to quiet admiration. The secret is not in genetics, but in simple rules that many forget.

The first is choosing a variety. Not all pumpkins are cut out for records. Look for seeds labeled "giant" or "Atlantic." These varieties are genetically predisposed to grow, but without your help, they won't reach their potential.

The soil should not just be fertile, but a real banquet for the roots. A month before planting, dig up the bed, add humus, compost and ash. Pumpkin loves warmth, so plant it in a sunny place, protected from the wind.

Watering is a separate story. Giants drink like camels after the desert. But you can't pour water under the roots - this will provoke rotting. It is better to make a groove around the hole and fill it with water.

And the pumpkin needs to be "fed" every two weeks: mullein infusion, herbal tea, yeast dressing. And don't skimp on space - one pumpkin requires at least 4 square meters.

Direct the tendrils to the side, and remove excess ovaries so that the plant does not waste energy on trifles. And remember: a giant pumpkin is a marathon, not a sprint. But when the neighbors come with cameras, you will understand - it was worth it.
