Fresh vegetables already in May? We reveal what to sow in March for quick results!
March is the time to sow crops that grow quickly and are not afraid of the cold.
Radish
Radish ripens in a month and is ideal for an early start. It can be sown directly into the ground under film.

For radishes, renew the crops every two weeks - this will ensure a continuous harvest until summer.
Spinach
Spinach also doesn’t take long to produce a harvest – in five weeks you’ll get juicy greens full of vitamins.
Spinach is best planted in partial shade, for example under trees, where it grows more densely.
Salad
Lettuce pleases with its speed and the possibility of cutting leaves several times per season. This greenery loves the sun, choose open places for it.
Peas
Peas can withstand light frosts and grow well in March soil.
Over time, the peas will need support - put up sticks or a net to keep the stems from falling over.
Carrot
Carrots sown now will bear fruit by early summer. This root vegetable requires loose soil, so mix the soil with sand if it is heavy.
General recommendations
Water the beds moderately so that the soil remains moist but not wet. Covering with film or agrofibre will protect the crops from the night cold.
Weeds are a nuisance to young plants, so weed the area regularly. Slugs and other pests can attack seedlings, so inspect the beds and collect them by hand.
Fertilizing with potassium and phosphorus will strengthen the roots and speed up development. It is better not to use nitrogen - it produces leaves, not fruits.
Harvest vegetables on time, while they are young and tender, otherwise the taste will deteriorate. If the weather is capricious, cover the beds more tightly so that frosts do not damage the seedlings.
These crops are easy to care for, but require attention at the start. Before sowing, loosen the soil slightly and remove stones.
Plant the seeds shallowly to encourage germination. Check the soil moisture - dry soil will slow growth.
Pests such as fleas can damage the leaves, especially on radishes, so spray the beds with wormwood infusion.
Birds sometimes peck peas, put up a net for protection. The harvest from these crops is not only early, but also tasty, because spring greens are especially fresh.
Gradually you will learn to guess the best time to sow in your climate.
Experiment with varieties - each has its own timing and characteristics. Early vegetables will be a reward for the March work and will give you a boost of energy for the entire season.
