Why black currants do not bear fruit

One of the first reasons that comes to most people's minds is the age of the bushes.

However, a feature of black currant is the fact that it is most productive in the 2nd and 3rd year. Therefore, if after 4-5 years the bush still does not bear fruit, then it is not a matter of age.

If the plant is affected by blackcurrant terry, then it will not be possible to save it: it is better to get rid of the bush immediately. And if the reason lies in the defeat of spider mites, aphids or other pests, then they must be dealt with.

Often the cause is both natural causes and our own care. Blackcurrant bushes may not have berries if the variety is self-sterile and the bees have not pollinated them due to bad weather.

Often, the same result can be achieved by improper care of the plant. For example, you can lose your harvest if you apply too much nitrogen fertilizer.
