There are quite a few problems with cabbage, but this is not a reason not to grow it.

If you approach this issue correctly, then the harvest of large and aromatic heads of cabbage will not take long to appear.

There are several main reasons why cabbage heads do not form. For example, poor quality planting material leads to this problem.

In addition, cabbage should not be planted in the shade. The crop loves light. If it grows in the shade, there may be problems with the formation of heads.

Another reason is acidic soil. Cabbage likes neutral acidity. If the soil pH is below 6.5, the plant will not like it.

To increase the pH level, dolomite flour or wood ash is added.

Cabbage does not like extreme heat. When the thermometer confidently crosses +30°C, the formation of heads of cabbage stops. The optimum temperature is within 17-20°C.

There is one trick that allows you to protect the forming heads from the heat. You can tie the leaves above the head, hiding it in the "bud". But you need to do this carefully so as not to break them.
