Why do pear tree leaves turn black?

The first reason for blackening and curling of leaves is unfavorable growing conditions. This is caused by drought, as well as problems with the tree's root system, when it cannot absorb nutrients.

The second reason is bacterial burn. It is easily recognizable by the wet dark spots on the tree trunk, as well as by the gradually browning leaves, which are first covered with dark spots and then turn completely black.

Fungal diseases cause the same symptoms. Pear is affected by scab and sooty mold.

In the first case, black spots appear on both the fruit and the leaves. The second is different in that the black spots on the tree leaves resemble soot and can be rubbed off with a finger.

And if swellings of various colors appear on the leaves, then this means that the plant has been affected by gall mites.
