Gardeners and summer residents who grow gooseberries have probably encountered spots on the berries.

It is important to quickly understand the reasons that cause this phenomenon.

Causes of gooseberry plaque

Powdery mildew causes plaque and changes in fruits. And if you notice that the gooseberry is covered with a brown plaque, this indicates the final stage of the disease.

This disease is called powdery mildew because when it first affects the plant, a milky white coating appears on its leaves.

The second reason why berries may become covered with brown spots is anthracnose.

This disease is also characterized by bumps on the leaves.

And another disease that gooseberries can suffer from is rust; the spores of this fungus settle on the plantings in the spring.

Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to get rid of the above-mentioned diseases, so it is better to prevent them. To do this, plant disease-resistant varieties in the garden and treat them with copper-based preparations.
