The bark of apple trees may begin to crack and peel.
In fact, this is due to several phenomena that seriously threaten the health of the tree.
To prevent the current situation from depriving you of your harvest, it’s time to find out what is destroying your tree.

Black Cancer
If the bark is not only cracked, but also blackened, then the cause is damage by the fungus Sphaeropsis malorum.
To combat it, it is necessary to remove all affected areas of the tree and burn them. The wounds are treated with drying oil or garden pitch, and the rest of the tree is treated with a 3% solution of copper sulfate or a raspberry solution of potassium permanganate.
Pests
In winter, hares often eat the bark of fruit trees. Therefore, in this case, bridge grafting will help.
If bark beetles have settled in the bark of apple trees, and you notice it too late, then the tree can no longer be helped. It must be cut down before the insects move to other plants in the garden.
If you only find a couple of tracks, pour insecticide into their passages from a syringe.
