It is no secret that two factors are important for a good strawberry harvest: warm and sunny weather.

Therefore, most often the berry turns sour if these conditions are not met.

However, there are a number of other factors that influence the taste of the harvest.

Why did the strawberries grow sour?

First of all, before planting berries, pay attention to its variety. There are both sweet varieties and those with a more pronounced sourness.

As we wrote above, cloudy weather can also leave its mark on the taste of berries. Therefore, during prolonged rains, it is important to cover the beds to prevent a watery and sour harvest.

Watering errors also lead to excess acidity. Again, as in the case of excessive humidity, during fruiting, strawberries no longer need a lot of water, which cannot be said about the period of ovary formation.

Please note that the taste of the berry is also affected by the soil in which the bushes grow. Therefore, strawberries will be sweet on neutral or slightly acidic soils.
