Sometimes summer residents are faced with the fact that the leaves of tomato seedlings begin to turn yellow.
And if this happens shortly before moving to the ground, it is imperative to figure out why this is happening.
Together with the expert of the online publication TUT NOVOSTI, scientist agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, we will find out the reasons for the unhealthy appearance of tomato seedlings.

Main reasons
Tomato seedlings may turn yellow due to lack of light. Even placing them on a windowsill may not be enough, especially if the weather is cloudy.
Therefore, it is recommended to keep the seedlings under a phytolamp for 12-14 hours.
Seedlings also turn yellow because of the wrong soil they were planted in. If the soil is alkaline with a pH of 6.5 - 7, then the lower leaves turn yellow first.
Both under- and over-watering are dangerous for tomatoes. In the first case, the leaves droop and dry out, in the second, they change color to yellow.
Lack of nutrition also causes the plant to turn yellow, so it needs to be fed with calcium nitrate.
And also for tomato seedlings the lack of space is destructive, therefore it is recommended to transplant future bushes before planting in the ground three times, choosing a container with a larger volume each time. Cups with a volume of 100, 200 and 500 ml are suitable for this.
