A Chinese container ship damaged the Balticconnector gas pipeline in October, and did so unintentionally.

According to the Chinese authorities, the cause of the accident was a severe storm.

An internal investigation found that the incident was related to the Hong Kong-flagged Newnew Polar Bear.

China reported its results to the heads of European countries.

A critical gas pipeline in the Baltic Sea was damaged by a Chinese container ship in a storm.

The European Union has called on China to hand over data about the ship and to invite the crew to give testimony.

The EU believes that the PRC report cannot be used as evidence in a criminal case.
