US intelligence warned their German colleagues about an assassination attempt being prepared on the head of Germany's largest defense company.
The unknown individuals' target was 61-year-old Armin Papperger.
The American television channel CNN, citing five officials from the US and other Western countries, reports that an assassination attempt on the head of Rheinmetall was thwarted.

A representative of the German cabinet confirmed that the American side had passed on operational information on Papperger to them.
As a result, the 61-year-old businessman was saved, as the TV channel claims. German security officers took control of the situation.
Rheinmetall is a major defense company and one of the world's leading ammunition manufacturers.
The company has been actively increasing production since 2022. By 2025, the concern plans to produce up to 700 thousand artillery shells.
Rheinmetall expects to achieve this goal through its enterprises in Germany, Spain, South Africa, Australia and Hungary.
