The cause was established by employees of the Russian embassy.
11 Russians were jailed while on holiday in Tunisia for visiting a specially protected border zone near the Algerian border.
Russians went to see the sights of the ancient Roman era, RBC reports.
But in that zone there are facilities that belong to the Tunisian Ministry of Defense.
Local law enforcement and military officials are closely monitoring the situation in the region due to the increased terrorist threat on the Algerian-Tunisian border.
As a result, the Russian citizens were detained and sent to one of the harshest prisons in Tunisia.
The fate of the Russians will be decided by the court. The hearing will be held behind closed doors, but the date has not yet been determined.
