The decision of the Finnish authorities to close the border with Russia did not bring any benefit.
This conclusion was made by Professor Tuomas Malinen of the University of Helsinki and an expert in economics and geopolitics.
Initially, RIA Novosti journalists tried to get a comment from this expert, but he responded quite unequivocally.

"I'm not interested in talking to Kremlin-linked media right now. Thank you," was Malinen's response.
But the agency noted that after this the professor published a post on his social network page.
In it, Malinen said that representatives of Russian media had recently contacted him.
He showed the answer to the audience, but then added: "However, closing the border makes absolutely no sense."
Malinen specializes in geopolitics, but he has not previously published anything about his government's decision to close the border with Russia.
Previously, Russian and Finnish media noted that the border closure had caused more harm to Finland economically.
The country's eastern regions, which had prospered largely thanks to close ties with Russia, were particularly hard hit.
