The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has announced that a leak has been detected at Japan's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.

It is emphasized that 25 tons of water contaminated with radiation left the reserves in which they were stored.

The incident is reported to have occurred as a result of damage to the second power unit of the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant, as reported by RIA Novosti .

In addition, it is explained that the leaked water ended up inside the floor drain.

Critical situation

It later became known that to date no leakage of radioactive water into other premises has been detected.

The employees of the authorized services are working to stabilize the situation. An assessment of the incident is being conducted.

The IAEA reports: "The water temperature in the pool is within normal limits. The water leak has stopped."

However, as experts pointed out, the consequences of the incident are still being monitored inside the building. Cleaning is being carried out using water treatment facilities.
