China's habit of overworking has become a subject of discussion after the death of a 30-year-old man in eastern China.

He died after 104 continuous working days from organ failure.

A Zhejiang provincial court found the company 20 percent responsible for the worker's death, Guangzhou Daily reported.

During the investigation it was discovered that the man died from multiple organ failure.

The Chinese man's immune system was weakened by overwork and could not cope with the pneumococcal infection.

The incident has sparked criticism in China and raised concerns about poor treatment of the working class.

Last year, the man got a job as a painter in one of the companies.

After signing the contract in February, the man worked every day for 104 days, taking only one day off.

Later, on May 25, the man took sick leave after feeling unwell. Four days later, his condition worsened. He died in hospital on June 1.

China's social security authorities believe that the man's death cannot be attributed to an industrial injury, since more than 48 hours passed between the onset of the illness and his death.
