Pager explosions in Lebanon blamed on booby-trapped batteries

On September 17, 2024, massive explosions of pagers used by Hezbollah members occurred in Lebanon.

These explosions resulted in significant human casualties and numerous injuries.

Lebanese security officials said the explosions were caused by booby-trapped batteries, CNN reports.

They suspected that Israel had hidden explosives inside the batteries of pagers smuggled into Lebanon.

Lebanese intelligence agencies said the technology was so advanced that it was virtually impossible to detect the explosives.

Lebanon continues to investigate who manufactured the wireless communication devices and how they ended up in the hands of Hezbollah members.

Israel has not commented directly on the massive explosions of pagers and radios in Lebanon.
