In Belgium, parents abused young children for years.
Adults beat the children, born in 2006 and 2017, with a whip and forced them to sleep on wet sheets or in a dog kennel.
At school, children were bullied for their foul odor and unsightly appearance, the HLN newspaper article noted.
In addition, the parents did not want to feed and look after the children.
Three children were likely victims of rape, and their mother threatened to kill them if they spoke out about what was happening.
The 40-year-old father, 37-year-old mother and her new partner ended up in court, accused of child abuse and sexual assault.
The lawyer requested $10,000 in compensation for each child, as well as psychiatric treatment.
The prosecutor demanded seven years' imprisonment for the children's mother, 15 months for her new partner, and restricted freedom for the father.
There is currently no contact between the affected children and their mother, as the children live in a foster family.
