Zambian police seized the passport and telephone from the detained Russian.

The detainees spent the night in a pretrial detention center. After that, the lawyers managed to negotiate for them to be transferred to a hotel.

The Russian also rejected information about his release on bail, which was previously reported by Western agencies.

The man believes that the arrest occurred due to a violation of currency legislation.

The Russian purchased the currency from someone, so he did not have any documents confirming the legal purchase of the money.

The police seized a batch of currency and personal funds from the detainees.
