The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, stated that Moscow will respond to Riga’s actions against Russians.
As previously reported, Latvia has complicated the procedure for extending residence permits for Russian citizens.
Zakharova noted: “We will take tough measures of an asymmetric nature,” as reported by RIA Novosti .

According to the diplomat, Russia has already taken significant steps in the economic direction, which, in turn, have hit Latvia.
Moscow's response
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry added: “This Baltic country has already felt the blow to its budget.”
In addition, Zakharova described Latvia’s actions as legal arbitrariness, which the authorities of this state are independently cultivating.
According to the diplomat, the Russian side will continue to take tough countermeasures, thus responding to Riga’s actions.
Earlier, the press indicated that today, Russian citizens living in Latvia are required to confirm their knowledge of the Latvian language.
Among other things, Russians will be required to fill out a questionnaire regarding their attitude towards the SVO and Crimea.
