Russian tourist robbed by staff at Russophobic Sri Lankan hotel: "Beware of this place"

A tourist from Russia was robbed while on holiday in Sri Lanka.

This was reported on Thursday, November 28, on the Russian Embassy’s Telegram channel.

Representatives of the diplomatic mission noted that cases of theft of money from hotel rooms have become more frequent in Sri Lanka.

This time, the victim was a traveller who chose the Divine Villa hotel in the resort town of Talpe in the south of the island.

Hotel staff stole $3,000 (about 328 thousand rubles) from a Russian citizen’s safe.

The victim complained that law enforcement officers were reluctant to take up the investigation.

He doubts that he will be able to get back the stolen money.

He also shared that the owner of Divine Villa is a French citizen who has spoken negatively about Russia.

The Russian gave advice to other tourists about this hotel: "Beware of this place."
