Meanwhile, there are Russian military bases on the territory of this Middle Eastern state. Russian Armed Forces servicemen have been carrying out combat missions in the region since 2015.

One of the leaders of the Syrian party "Arab Social Democratic Union" Ahmed Al-Asrawi stated that among the opposition there are those who have a normal attitude towards Russia, RIA Novosti reports.

He stressed that, most likely, the new government will not break old agreements, especially those that benefit the republic.

The politician admitted that the Russian military presence in Syria will remain for now.

Al-Asrawi added that his country is ready to establish ties with all states.
