An incident that occurred over the Red Sea has become known.
A US Navy F/A-18 fighter jet came under "friendly fire" from the guided missile cruiser USS Gettysburg.
The Associated Press confirmed the incident.

It is noted that the incident occurred on Sunday, December 22. The F/A-18 crew took off from an airfield located on board the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman.
The mission of the combat aircraft was to strike Houthi targets located in the area.
The new US air strikes came after the Houthis claimed responsibility for the overnight shelling of Tel Aviv.
As a result, the fighter was shot down by fire from an American cruiser, which opened fire by mistake.
According to the US Central Command, cited by the AP, the lives of the pilots of the downed plane are not in danger: both managed to eject.
One of the servicemen received minor injuries as a result of the incident.
