Representatives of Russian Railways have revealed details of the accident on the railway near Volgograd.
On Monday, July 29, the Kazan-Adler train collided with a KAMAZ truck, which drove onto the railroad crossing under a red light.
Russian Railways reports that there were 803 passengers on the train, RIA Novosti reports. Of these, about 140 people were injured. There were no fatalities.

They received injuries of varying severity. Many escaped with abrasions and bruises. 30 people were hospitalized, including 15 minors, the regional authorities specified.
The total number of hospitalized people may increase. There are 32 ambulance teams working at the scene. If necessary, people are sent to the Kotelnikovskaya Central District Hospital.

According to preliminary data, the incident was caused by the driver of the KAMAZ. The vehicle drove onto the crossing when a passenger train was approaching it.
The area is clearly visible. Visibility for the driver was more than 1 km.
The driver applied emergency braking, but was unable to avoid a collision. As a result, nine carriages derailed, seven of them overturned.
A criminal case has been opened on the fact of the incident. Train traffic on the section has been suspended.
