A 4-year-old girl died after a tree branch fell on her in the city of Kirovo-Chepetsk.
The incident occurred on Friday afternoon, July 26, the press service of the Kirov Region Prosecutor's Office reported on its Telegram channel.
The accident happened near a residential building on Lermontov Street. Here, a poplar branch fell right on a preschooler.
The child suffered a severe head injury. The girl did not survive, the prosecutor's office reported. The incident occurred when the deceased was walking with her mother.
A criminal case was opened after the incident. Law enforcement officers are identifying the guilty parties under Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (negligence).
The Kirovo-Chepetsk City Hall will create a special commission. It will organize and conduct an official investigation and establish the circumstances of the incident.
In addition, the regional governor ordered that the condition of trees in all municipalities be checked. The deadline is one week.
