The former chairman of the Nizhny Novgorod region court, Valery Vorobyov, and his wife went into the forest and disappeared.
The man was later found dead during a search and rescue operation.
The 86-year-old couple went into the forest on July 20, TASS reports. They left by car from the village of Teryayevo (Bogorodsky District) to Pavlovsky District and did not return.

A search was organized with the involvement of volunteers. The search group "Rys" participated in the operation.
Vorobyov was found dead. The cause of death of the ex-judge has not been disclosed.
His wife was found in another part of the forest. The woman is alive, but details about the pensioner's condition are not provided.
Valery Vorobyov held the title of Honored Lawyer of Russia. He headed the Nizhny Novgorod (Gorky) Regional Court from 1985 to 2005.
